The ban on carrying mobile phones inside Arunachaleswarar Temple has now come into effect.
Devotees are required to leave their phones at designated deposit facilities before entering.
Five mobile-phone deposit centres are being arranged around the four major temple towers.
The measure is expected to change how visitors prepare for darshan at the famous temple.
